Transportation

Six canoes are lined up on the shoreline at the lake. Photo taken at Fort Wilderness campground at dusk in August 2009.In our family, for a variety of reasons, a 14-hour drive is preferable to a 2-hour airplane ride. I may blog about it someday, but it was only 2 years ago, and I’m not ready.

However, if you do choose to fly, Disney will pick you up at the airport for free, if you are staying on property.  Even if four people are staying in one room, and coming from four corners of the Earth.  My favorite part is that you add tags to your bag, provided in the mail before your trip, and once to give them over at the airport, you don’t touch them again until they appear in your room.

This service is appropriately called The Magical Express, and to make matters better, they will take you back to the airport, as well.  If you don’t have your flight information when you book your resort, you can contact them at: (407) 939-6244.

You may choose to take a cab back to the airport at the end of your trip, so you don’t have to be too early for your flight, but the best part for me when we used this service was that I did not need a car seat for the entire week of our first family vacation.
