While there are so many events, parades, performances, and spontaneous magical moments to be experienced within the Disney Parks, those who go often (or wake up really early) may want to try fishing, parasailing, or horseback riding. From canoe rentals and wagon rides for under $10 to “The Experience of a Lifetime” at the Richard Petty driving experience for well over $1000, there are lots of ways to spend your Disney dollars, even outside of the parks.
Children may need time to warm up to ideas and activities that adults thrust upon them, promising that they are fun. Fun is in the eye of the potatohead holder. Audition your clothes, sunscreen, and toys before you travel, to make sure they can stand the heat in Florida.
Just before our last trip, my five-year old asked THE QUESTION. Not “where do little brothers come from?” I had that speech in my back pocket. He wanted to know how Mickey moved-as in, fur Mickey, not as in animated Mickey (which, again, I had a PowerPoint to share three clicks away.)
With his younger brother’s full attention, he began a more detailed inquiry. “You know what I think? I think inside….”, and got a “We will discuss it when we get home, M‘kay?”
Don’t forget about the added bonus of walking up to character meals, popular rides, and theatrical events during times when the whole world seems to at the parade! If you use the buddy system and have one pair of family members ride Pirates of the Caribbean while everyone else views the pyrotechnics, nobody loses. Isn’t democracy about choices, anyway?
