There has been some buzz about whether or not the Obama family will be at the Walt Disney World Resort on Thursday, January 19, 2012. Since today is Mrs. Obama’s birthday, I was delighted to hear confirmation that a trip is in the works!
Politics aside, since I know I differ in ideology from some friends who share my Disney passions, those of us who live in or near Washington, DC are used to changing our route based on the plans for The President, or other dignitaries. I think of these folks as “at risk” because they require some much security, and just like a new mom leaving the house with 30 pounds of gear for 8-pound trustee, some accommodating for safety and security is in order. Our friends at TouringPlans.com have written up a few thoughts if your vacation overlaps with the First Family’s, agenda. Here in the metro DC, you leave extra time, you have a B plan, you know an alternate route, and you expect that a man in sunglasses will want to check out your bag, your car trunk, or ID.
Whether you look forward to these encounters, or side step them, you can see “The President” without security, at The Hall of Presidents, anytime. If you like him, it is cool. If you don’t, it is cool and has comfy seats-ideal for mothers of infants, by the way.
